This song is not about a tribute to his Mom. "Mama" is slang for an older prostitute / hooker. So he is singing about his obsession with an older prostitute. Not his mother. Hope that helps clear things up.

The album version's just under 7 minutes, yeah - I think this song was more popular in the UK than the US - shame, really. It kicks ass.
