im 21, i seen this cartoon when i was 5 and it is my favorite popeye episode. i still own the tape to it. Great post. I love the part popeye throws wimpie in the water and swims and talks all that gibberish...i still know all the lines to this cartoon lol

jci10: Is parallax scrolling the multi-plane, 3D effect? I saw something about this effect on a biography of Ub Iwerks, but I forgot what it was called. I think that it was too much of a novelty to really catch on with animators and audiences back then, but it looks great in this feature!

One of the best toons, excellent animation, parallax scrolling, music and even a rap (by sinbad). It would be nice if someone can post a high resolution of the original panaramic version of this cartoon. Disney ain't got jack on this toon... :)
